Full Moon Over Gaza
BEA LAMAR
As I await the sunset in LA,
It's already early morning on
October Twenty-Eighth
In Gaza, Palestine:
Occupied land of the most free
Souls, and spirits.
Tweets depicting orange fog/smoke,
Superpowers tirelessly working to
Take the “air”
Out of “open-air prison.”
Even phosphorus chokes,
Needing oxygen to disseminate.
The universe is never still,
Sending a message
From light years away
To the rage of fires on humanity itself.
The sky never lied,
The sky never lies.
A blackout of Gaza could never be
Up above,
Even if you cannot see,
The full moon of first Tishreen.
Deneb, Hamal, Aldeteran,
Al-Shain and all of Al Nasr Al-tair shine bright
Above Gaza's orange sky.
Too many proverbs come to mind,
I’ll simplify:
There are no worthy pursuits left
If your humanity is dead.
